Speaker:
Amanda Dixon serves as the Regional Business Solutions Team Lead as part of the One Stop System Operator Team for the Kentucky Career Center – Lincoln Trail, where she leads employer engagement and business development efforts across an eight-county region. In her role, she works directly with employers to identify workforce needs, develop recruitment strategies, connect businesses with workforce resources, and build partnerships among employers, education, government, and community organizations.
A lifelong Kentucky native, Amanda is from Glasgow, Kentucky, where she is raising her two teenage daughters. A first-generation college graduate, she comes from a family with deep roots in public and community service. Her mother is the retired City Clerk for the City of Glasgow and earned the Kentucky Master Municipal Clerk designation, while her father served as Glasgow’s Superintendent of Public Works. Her only brother is a United States Marine Corps veteran who now works as an electrical engineer for a military defense contractor in Maryland. Outside of her professional work, Amanda is an avid reader and longtime romance fan. She is also a self-published independent romance author and an unapologetic nail polish enthusiast.
Amanda has a multidisciplinary educational background spanning business, psychology, organizational leadership, and healthcare. She earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Business Administration and Psychology from the University of Maine at Presque Isle, graduating summa cum laude with both degrees, and later earned a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Business through the University of Maine.
Her professional development includes five Lean Six Sigma belt credentials, including Black Belt certification, as well as certification as a Kaizen Practitioner. Her leadership training also includes Agile Certified ScrumMaster, and Agile Certified Scrum Product Owner credentials.
Prior to transitioning into workforce development, Amanda spent several years working in healthcare. She completed professional training through The Medical Institute of Kentucky in Bowling Green and the Kentucky School of Phlebotomy in Louisville and is nationally registered certified through the National Association for Health Professionals as both a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician. Her healthcare experience provided a strong foundation in communication, service, problem-solving, and working directly with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Today, Amanda brings those experiences together in her work with Kentucky employers. She is passionate about helping businesses navigate workforce challenges, connecting employers with qualified talent and available resources, and creating meaningful partnerships that benefit both businesses and job seekers. Her approach is practical, relationship-focused, and grounded in a belief that strong workforce development begins with listening to employers, understanding their needs, and connecting them with solutions that make sense for their organization.
